Canadian Pacific 2816, also known as the " Empress ", is a preserved H1b class 4-6-4 "Hudson" type steam locomotive built by the Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW) in December 1930 for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP). It is the only non-streamlined H1 Hudson to be preserved.

2022年2月7日 · Canadian Pacific 2816 The Empress: Canadian Pacific President and CEO Rob Ritchie set the steam preservation world on its ear when in 1998 he revealed the railway’s plan to repatriate CP H1b Hudson No. 2816 from its long-time home at the National Park Service’s Steamtown museum and rebuild the 1930-vintage locomotive for mainline service.

2024年6月12日 · LAREDO, Texas — With SD70ACU No. 7013 and two FP9 diesels at the head end, Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 No. 2816 pulled into Laredo on June 11 after recrossing the Rio Grande at the International Railway Bridge, reentering the United States.

CP's 2816 is a class H1b Hudson type locomotive built by Montreal Locomotive Works in December 1930. The CP Empress is now the only surviving H1b Hudson and is one of only a handful of preserved and operating CPR steam locomotives in North America.

2020年8月28日 · The CP #2816 is a 78 year old 4-6-4 locomotive that has been lovingly restored to her original condition by the Canadian Pacific Railway to celebrate its heritage. The CP 2816 Empress is the only survivor of a group of “Hudson” type locomotives built in the 1930’s by the Montreal Locomotive Works.

CP 2816 was acquired from Steamtown U.S.A. in 1999 and restored to operating condition. The restoration was completed in September 2001.
