2016年7月11日 · Even if the boric acid is more expensive, use it. The borax/MA method is a pain in the behind and many people regret using it because of the wild pH swings caused by the borax. One user clogged up his sand filter with calcium scale because the pH got too high. Boric acid is a weak acid and it readily and easily dissolves in water.

Adding 50 ppm to water with a pH of 7.5 and initial TA of 80 ppm will lower the pH to 7.3 so even adding enough boric acid to increase borates to their maximum recommended amount doesn't lower pH very much.

I can use my mortar & pestle to make the Borax into a finer powder if I use the dry mixture, but with the liquid version it seemed to break down fine.)

2014年4月28日 · Boric acid is what I put in my pool. Borax achieves the same thing, but you have to add muriatic acid to balance the pH during the addition. It does seem to help keep them away from the pool without killing them. It doesn't work for everyone though. Wasps are generally beneficial, so I would avoid pesticides too.

2016年11月27日 · For a 375 gallon tub, you need 14oz of boric acid by weight. If you use borax, then you need 22oz of borax by weight AND 11 fl. oz. of 31.45% muriatic acid to compensate for the pH rise. Both methods will raise your borate level from 0 to 50ppm.

2012年6月28日 · Boric acid slightly lowers pH, roughly from 7.5 to 7.2, so maybe that was what had the stains lighten. I don't know of anything specific to boric acid itself that would help with stains.

Taking it apart weekly got old in a hurry, so I decided to try borates this spring once it was time to bring the SWG back online. I added 50ppm of borates with boric acid and have been keeping a close eye on it every since.

2010年6月2日 · If you are adding borates with borax and acid, they will probably throw off the PH for a few hours. It is best to give the borax and acid four hours to mix without swimming and then double check the PH before getting in. If you are adding borates with boric acid, you only need to wait about 15 minutes before swimming.
