Bor Burison was the former King of Asgard, son of Buri, father of Odin, grandfather of Hela and Thor and adoptive grandfather of Loki. He was responsible for the victory over Malekith and his Dark Elf army during the First Battle of Svartalfheim .

Bor's return sparked a cataclysmic battle on modern-day Earth, wherein he confronted Thor, perceiving him as a threat due to distorted reality. Their clash escalated until Thor, with aid from unexpected quarters, managed to defeat Bor. Tragically, Thor realized Bor's true identity too late, leading to Bor's demise.

Bor then took the Aether, and unable to destroy it instead stowed it away where none could find it, thus bringing peace to the Nine Realms. During a daring escape from Asgard, Bor's statue was destroyed by Thor while piloting a Dark Elf ship with Loki congratulating his adopted brother for "decapitating [his] grandfather."

Bor is Odin's father. He was turned into snow by a powerful sorcerer (revealed to be Loki) during a war with the Frost Giants.
