Best 308 Ammo For Big Hogs? - Handgun Forum
2018年7月29日 · My brother & his son have seen some big hogs on their land & want to get a few. From the pics some look 300 pounds or more. They just bought a 308. Any suggestions on what ammo would be most suitable? I'm thinking at least 150 grain, maybe 168. I'm not familiar who makes the best bullets for hunting rifles. Any suggestions? Thx.

2018年9月16日 · It was a great blood trail for 100 yards, then spotty for 100 yards, and then just a drop here and there. It was about 7:30 and it was getting dark. I got my flashlight out and continued. The deer had crossed through the ticket and was traveling across the bottoms. It was mostly big oak trees with pools of ankle deep water from recent rain.
40s&w or 10mm which ones better? - Handgun Forum
2014年2月13日 · When doing remote float trips in SW or NW Alaska, I take my 4" 500 S&W and prop my Marlin guide gun 45-70 in the raft and against the camp chair. Point being, there is no one gun. Thankfully. Some are just more suited to tasks than others. Home protection, 40 S&W. Black bear and general woods gun, 10 mm. Big brown bears, 500 S&W.
.45LC versus .357 mag | Handgun Forum
2012年8月8日 · Big, powerful pistols require experience for best results, especially in a save-your-life panic when an angry hog has your number, or that of one of your dogs. Don't just buy a gun, and go walking about in the undergrowth. Practice with it. A lot. First with mild practice loads, but then with real, full-power ammunition.

Whitetail expectations...with a handgun? | Handgun Forum
2008年2月27日 · As far as your weapon choices, the natural winner would be the big-bore, but with two requirements; you shoot it as well or better than the .357, and it can be brought to zero with the hunting load. I believe "holding off" (high/low/left/right) on game is a bad idea; if you can't zero the gun precisely, then accuracy (and confidence) suffers.
Light on your home defense gun? - Handgun Forum
2022年9月26日 · This brings me to a different scenario than the “bedside” pistol, but one that could be relevant. I deer hunt and we have feral hogs, lots of hogs. One morning while walking to my stand in the dark, no light, I see a large black shape in “my trail”. I know it’s a hog, probably a boar since it’s alone, and a big one.

2010年12月1日 · At present, I load mine with 180 grain FMJs, because I'm only thinking feral hogs. Even at that, you have power similar to a .41 magnum, and the FMJ should give you better penetration qualities. If there were bear in my area, I would upgrade to a conventionally rifled barrel, and a 22lb. recoil spring, so that I could shoot 200 grain hardcast lead.

2022年12月27日 · I have to admit 2022 was in no way bad for my Family. Promotions and raises for both my Children and more importantly, everyone is healthy. Gas is at least at acceptable levels now, but food, the basics, are absurd. Inflation …

2024年12月26日 · I figured if I messed something up it wouldn't be a big loss. I installed a Harrison FCG, EGW oversized FPS with Extractor and a few other items. The only thing I didn't care for was the barrel bushing fit so I took some measurements and ordered an EGW Gunsmith fit carry bevel angle bore bushing that was custom machined.
