Babol (Persian: بابل; pronunciation ⓘ) [a] is a city in the Central District of Babol County, Mazandaran province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district. [4] Babol is divided into two metropolitan areas (under Iranian law).

Bābol, city, northern Iran, on the Bābol River, about 15 miles (24 km) south of the Caspian Sea. Bābol gained importance during the reign (1797–1834) of Fatḥ ʿAlī Shāh, though ʿAbbās I (died 1629) had laid out a pleasure garden and summer palace there.

town in Māzandarān, formerly Bārforūš; Bābol lies near the Bābol river, occupying a central position in the coastal plain. It was at first a small, local market-place, as indicated by the name Bārforūš (lit. [place where] loads are sold) which it bore until 1927.

Located between the northern slopes of the Alborz Mountains and southern coast of the Caspian Sea, Babol is famous for its orange groves and has been nicknamed the City of Orange Blossoms. Babol borders Babolsar in the north, Qaemshahr in the east, and Amol in the west.

شهر بابُـل شهری زیبا و پر طرفدار در استان مازندران است. این شهر در فاصله 15 کیلومتری دریای مازندران و 211 کیلومتری شمال تهران واقع شده است. یک رودخانه پُرآب به نام بابلرود از این شهر می‌گذرد که از ارتفاعات سوادکوه سرچشمه می‌گیرد و در پایان به دریای بزرگ خزر ختم می‌شود.
