2020年12月2日 · Like the original R80 G/S, the R100 GS had a boxer twin engine, with two-valve heads, shaft drive and five-speed gearbox, derived from the era’s street bike engines. The GS had lower compression than BMW’s asphalt-only versions of the machine (R100 RS, etc.), to run on lower-quality gasoline in remote areas.

2006年1月21日 · I have a '77-8 R100. I have an 85 R80. I also have a newly acquired 91 R100. The 77 R100 is the roughest ... but it's still very smooth by most standards. The 85 is pure frickin' silk. The engine and tranny in it is matched and perfect. It's crazy how smooth it is. The 91 is extremely smooth. Close to the R80 but not quite.

The Muscle Bike: 1977 R100/7 - Adventure Rider
2014年12月29日 · I found my bike and bought it. 1977 BMW R100/7. And its first night, it needed to be left at the shop. It's had a tendency to stall unless revved up. That's what partly brought a grand off the price tag. At the shop, we were adjusting the idle speed and found the right side cut out completely. Plugs were black (dual plugged, electronic ignition).
1988 BMW R100 GS Restoration Journey - Adventure Rider
2017年4月7日 · Nice work on the refurb. It's good to see that you have the front fender sorted. In 1988 BMW had an idea that didn't work great: one fender and two fork braces to allow the fender to be mounted high or low. First they mounted the fender low as shown in the ad below and it would catch a knob on the Metzler Sahara 3 and fold up under itself.
BMW R100/7 Airhead - Instrument cluster repair - Adventure Rider
2018年11月9日 · Certainly 5% over is more tolerable than the 15-20% overages that I see on the R100/7. Can't get final drive #s at the moment, won't get back to the bike for a few weeks, but will follow up on that. Mixed parts that make it go down the road, is quite unknown, and quite possible.

BMW R100RS: Should I get it? - Adventure Rider
2003年7月7日 · My first BMW was/is a 1981 R100RS. I can't get rid of it even though it's been apart for years. I love the RS. The cast wheels that were recalled don't have a ridge on the spokes which looks like a parting line. The recall is still in effect so far as I know. Try hitting a rock at about 45mph, that will bend a Snowflake.

Resurrecting a Krauser 4-Valve Top End | Adventure Rider
2022年8月24日 · To get a “complete” set of rings for the Krauser 4-Valve pistons, I needed to combine two different ring sets. The top compression ring is a good bit thinner than a stock BMW R100 ring, but the second compression ring and the oil ring are the same as those used in a standard R100 motor.
