2025年1月2日 · Upon request from Missouri Pacific, General Electric also manufactured a variant, the B30-7A. This locomotive was externally identical to the B23-7 but featured an uprated 12-cylinder, 7FDL prime mover that could also produce 3,000 horsepower. This improvement enabled greater fuel savings and lower maintenance costs.

The B30-7 was of similar length to the B23-7, but was equipped with a more powerful 16-cylinder 7FDL16 engine. It replaced the U30B model. 2024年4月15日 · The launch customer for the B30-7 was Frisco Railway in late 1977, one of seven railroads to order the model. Missouri Pacific would receive three of its B23-7s from GE with an upgraded 12-cylinder prime mover rated at 3,000 hp. This would become the B30-7A model offered by GE, with Missouri Pacific ordering 55 more of this design.

2024年7月25日 · The B30-7A is an uprated revision of the catalogued but unbuilt B28-7 from the 1976 New Series catalog, with a power uprate from 2750 to 3000 horsepower. Originally offered as a more fuel efficient B30-7, the B30-7A boasted a large number of iterative upgrades GE was using to bring the Series 7 up to spec with the recently announced EMD 50 Series.
