2022年1月30日 · Depends on context. Audism is more specific and ableism is pretty broad. If you are referring to discrimination based on my deafness then audism. Also, so many hearing people have zero clue what audism is let alone ever heard about it but ableism they have. Give an example as your question doesn’t give me enough info to not write a novel.

No it’s not a typo. Audism = discrimination or prejudice against individuals based on their ability to hear. Deaf is someone unable to hear (at all). Hard of hearing individuals can still hear (and speak). I am ranting about discrimination against hard of hearing (HoH) individuals, especially if they do not use sign language.

2023年7月1日 · So I saw a t-shirt recently that said "cure audism, not Deaf people". I completely respect and support the sentiment, but the wording made me very uncomfortable because "cure audism" is so similar to "cure autism".
