Anan 7 is the main antagonist of the Star Trek episode "A Taste of Armageddon". He was portrayed by the late David Opatoshu, who would later go on to play the Newcomer Paul Revere in Alien Nation. Anan 7 was the leader of the planet Eminiar VII. His world had been at war with the neighbouring planet of Vandikar for 500 years.

Enter Fox, an insufferable negotiator who thinks that he can talk his way through the barriers put up by Anan 7, the leader of the planet. Because Kirk and Spock are stuck on the planet, Scotty takes the helm.

For the High Council on Vendikar could only come to one conclusion: that Eminiar VII had abrogated the treaty, and was preparing to make real war, with real weapons. Kirk, seeing Anan 7 realize this, gave him the second-best advice: start making bombs. This was followed by the best advice: consider making peace.

Upon arriving at Eminiar, Kirk ditches the Rules Lawyer on the ship and takes a landing party to meet with the planet's council and its chairman, Anan 7. Anan chides them for disregarding the warning and explains it was for their protection: the planet's currently embroiled in a terrible war with its neighboring planet Vendikar.

Mea takes him to the High Council, whose leader, Anan 7, rejects Kirk's diplomatic overture – because of the war. Anan reveals that Eminiar has been fighting a war with the third planet of the system, Vendikar, for almost 500 years. But despite a hit, right in the city, Kirk and his landing party can find no evidence of war.

Anan 7: Once your ship was in orbit about our planet, it became a legitimate target. It has been classified destroyed by a tri-cobalt satellite explosion. All persons aboard your ship have twenty-four hours to report to our disintegration machines.
