2004年2月17日 · Ammo cans are probably about the best container out there, but as you suggested they are not for suitable for all cache placements. If the cache is hidden in the wilderness somewhere an ammo can is fine, but if you are hiding a cache in a public park, it may be best to use something else.

Another gun club member has been leaving ammo cans at the club with a sign that says "Take Them - Free"! Find your local gun club, I bet they have a bulletin board and you can post a flyer volunteering to take away any unwanted ammo cans.

I have seen examples of many ammo cans currently used and retired by the US military so I feel somewhat confident in my response. 2003年1月20日 · Ammo cans have a pretty good base already, priming is a waste of paint/time IMHO. If you want to add depth, go tear off a few small branches, pine works best, lay them on the green can, and spray irregular stripes with black, brown, and tan.

2007年9月13日 · Despite what some retailers of ammo cans might say, I don't see any shortage of ammo cans, especially looking at the gov't surplus listings. I'd bet they are being scrapped because they are "producing" more cans than they can sell to surplus stores and the like. If they can't sell 'em, they just sit around taking up space.
