2009年9月27日 · Pipe threads that seal and we use sealer on have a tapered thread that are designed to seal when tightened. Bolt threads are not tapered and are the same fit no matter how far they thread in. It seems on a bolt thread you would need something that set a little but remained pliable enough when moved you would not break the seal.

2015年3月16日 · I use the ARP thread sealer all .the time, and it has never leaked with me. I use it on the screw in rocker arm studs in my 289 HiPo engines which definitely screw into the water jacket. A few times I've used it when the stud hole has been cracked due to an improper (chevy) stud being used, they don't have a flat base like the Ford ones do.

2007年11月3日 · I have used many types. They all seem to do OK. ARP is what I use the most I guess. I have also used a GM gasket sealer, a brown heavy liquid, forgot the part # though. If you have loose threads from cleaning with a tap instead of a thread chaser they still tend to leak. I run a 10 lb cap and use a sealer in the coolant in those cases.

2012年2月26日 · Next, clean the threads with brake or carb clean to remove any thread sealer, lube or antifreeze that may be on the threads. Then, clean the threads on the fastener. Use a liberal amount of ARP Thread Sealer, hi temp silicone or loc-tite on the threads to ensure that there will be no air pockets which can cause leaks.

2013年7月16日 · I have used both permatex white PTFE thread sealant, and permatex #2 in a tube, on chevy head bolts. Both are appropriate, one is newer tech than the other. I have not had problems with either. The old school gasket sealants like Indian Head, and permatex #1 and #2, are based on Kaolin clay (from the earth) in an alcohol solvent.

2009年12月9日 · The intake bolts i would loosen and do the same thing but don't worry about a torque sequence. Most likely will have to tighten the intake bolts again anyhow after some run time. I also would not use loctite thread sealer. Get the ARP thread Sealer or the napa/permatex form a gasket sealer stuff. Th ARP is easier to clean up, but both will work.

2009年4月23日 · use arp all the time, just built my 327 w full arp kit, always just used molly grease on the washer and botom of the bolt head and thread sealer. tourque them bout between factory and arp specs, split the diff! never had a prob.

2020年4月26日 · Can anybody tell me what the typical length of a short head bolt for a small block Chevy is? I did an aluminum head swap on a 350, using Edelbrock heads, some new bolts with washers, and ARP thread sealer. I normally use ARP bolts, but I thought I would try these from Jegs. Look the same and made in the USA.
