2024年10月19日 · The Type 99A also called Type 99A2 or ZTZ-99A MBT (Main Battle Tank) is an improved version of the Type 99 MBT designed and manufactured in China by the local defense industry. The development of Type 99 started in 1999, and the tank entered service with the Chinese army in 2001.

The ZTZ99A (Chinese: ZTZ99A式主战坦克; industry code WZ1001; erroneously known as ZTZ99A2 before official ratification in the late 2010s) currently serves as the spearhead of the PLAGF armored corps and has been their most advanced tank since the 2010s.

It is the most advanced Main Battle Tank in service with the PLA (Peoples Liberation Army) and is classed as a 3rd Generation MBT as it has a hunter killer capability (Commanders Independent Sight).

The Type 99A shares essentially the same drivetrain as the Type 99, but shortened and more compact, same engine, but an improved CH1000 hydraulic-mechanical semi-automatic transmission, with six forward gears, two reverse.
