2016年7月7日 · Hey everyone. Ive been working on rebuilding an 84/85 YZ250 and thought I'd try documenting it, so here I am! This bike came from Don Jones and then my uncle bought it in the mid 80's. So it has a bit of history and sentimental value. Makes the time and money spent rebuilding it that much easier....

The Yamaha YZ250 is a two-stroke motocross race bike made by Yamaha. The model was launched in 1974, and has been regularly updated and is still in production with new releases every year. The original YZ250 of 1974 used an air-cooled 250cc two-stroke engine of 70 mm bore and a 64 mm stroke, which was improved semi-annually.

2006年8月15日 · I once owned a 83 YZ250... pretty much the same engine as the 85. Mine had 1st and 3rd gear out (like your 3rd). I had to split the cases to fix it. That was the first Motocycle engine I completely tore apart so it was a leaning experience. But I was also a experienced auto mechanic (hobbiest) so I already had that going for me.

Today it stands as the last 250cc two-stroke from Japan. That makes it the longest-running production dirt bike in the world–maybe even the longest running motorcycle model of any kind outside of Milwaukee and Russia. Perhaps more than anything, the YZ250 is known for the legendary riders who used it to win.
