Feb 6, 2007 · I went 300 wsm. It’s a very easy round to load for and if built correctly you can get the heavies shooting nice. In the end I built mine for hunting and in the end the animal won’t know the difference and at the ranges I will take a shot from it wouldn’t make a difference.

May 29, 2020 · Also, 300 WSM has really displaced 300 WM in the target world the past few years. Supposedly more accurate. Perhaps this is a function of less recoil for the same velocity, though there also seems to be something magical about the stubbier cases.

Nov 1, 2018 · For hunting elk at 800 yards, I would go with the 300 WSM hands down. There is a big difference in energy at that distance. A Berger 215 at 2850+ would be great elk medicine. Consider your throat dimensions carefully with the WSM. A SAAMI spec 300 WSM chamber will really hamstring you with heavy bullets.

Oct 29, 2013 · I have an Origin with 6.5 CM and 300 WSM barrels. I use the 6.5 for deer and PRS matches, and have hunted out west, and AK with the 300 WSM barrel. I like the combo and use the exact same rifle for matches and hunting, just a quick barrel and scope swap.

May 7, 2009 · Re: best bullet for 1000yds with 300 WSM I own this weapon as well. the issue you will have is that the Barrell is a 1:13 twist, so the heavy bullets dont stabilize... I use 61.5 grains of Varget behind a 155 Berger VLD and it does great.

My thoughts are the building a rifle off a Defiance XM action and running a 7-300 WSM with a 195 Berger or a straight 300 WSM and running a 208 ELD or 215 Berger.
