After 86 years as 1449 on the AM dial, Mudgee station 2MG is the next commercial radio station to move to FM on March 18. The station becomes 2MG 97.1 and 101.5 FM after the Australian Media and Communications Authority (ACMA) allocated the station a primary transmitter along with a translator service to cover the Kandos and Rylstone areas.

After 86 years on the AM band, Mudgee’s 1449 2MG is set to be the next commercial radio station to make the move to FM broadcasting, with its FM transmitters turns on from March 18 th.

In July 2013, 2MG celebrated 75 years of broadcasting. This page was originally started in the lead up to that milestone for current & former staff to reconnect and to share memories of their time with 1449 2MG.

Could only hear parts of the 2MG farewell to AM 1449 which switched of at 14:49 in the afternoon on 15th April 2024. At least they had a special program! Daytime reception of 2MG not great...
