Wu Li (born 1632, Changsu, Jiangsu province, China—died 1718) was a Chinese painter who was a member of the orthodox school of “literati painting” (wenrenhua) in the early Qing period.

In Travelers among Streams and Mountains, probably made in the 1670s, Wu Li carefully copies the album leaf that preserves a composition by the late Yuan master Wang Meng (ca. 1308–1385). Wu’s interpretation gives the work new life, however, through the vigor and spontaneity of his execution.

In this study, Wu Li's personality and art is investigated against the background of late Ming and early Qing social and political developments.
