Apr 16, 2014 · You can use wet SOS pads to clean your chrome up a bit too if you want.(not stainless) Looks like you have the patina look already but I understand wanting a little cleaner less orange rust look, you may even want to talk to someone about buffing it out a little, I dont know how to do that correctly myself but I need to learn. Nov 20, 2012 · The wheel in the photo has about 2 hours work into it with SOS pads and a hand polishing with wenol. Have any of you guys come up with a trick way of making these old dogs look good? Maybe sand blasting lightly and a coat of variprime to do a cool paint job or perhaps some powdercoating? Maybe they'll be a good platform for some full moon discs.

Sep 1, 2020 · Typically I'd be all for the SOS scrub on a chrome piece that rough, but in my experience, the plating on 1951-1954 Chevy car grilles is so thin that any hard polishing takes the plating off and leaves the copper exposed, except for the die cast teeth.

Jun 18, 2014 · from my old stock of whestleys , main ingredient ,Tri Sodium Phosphate ( TSP) they removed it in the new formula ( replaced with sodium meta silicate ) , and the store TSp is not true tsp its its EDTA and sodium meta silicate , I clean tires with a SOS pad as there is caustic in the soap and it cleans them good .

Jul 15, 2005 · If there is silicone type dressing on parts you might have to use tolulene base cleaners, but I have had the best luck scrubbing with sos pads and comet cleanser. Trick seems to be getting any oily stuff out of the pores. Then dont paint in hi humidity or temps below 70 degrees, cause it is paint and those parts are flexible.

May 11, 2005 · SOS pads work, I used them on my '65 mustang to pass a decible test at the local small town cop shop about 6 years ago. "Fife" had no idea, I told him I put baffled header gaskets in and he agreed. I found those at the local Napa, right next to the muffler bearings!!

Feb 20, 2010 · when i have an old carb to clean i use "combustion chamber cleaner" for the insides i'm talking about, brass comes up looking like new, any of that green sludge just dissolves, a good washing with an SOS pad on the outsides does a pretty nice job at removing the corrosion and gives them a little shine.
