But I prefer reaper nowadays, I don't love working in two daws. If I need to be creative and I'm stuck I will start in Ableton and finish in reaper. I would suggest to try Ableton, learn it, and adapt what you learn to reaper if you can. I did with scripts and in the end better, faster, except for simpler god I miss it so much hahaha.

2021年3月28日 · IMHO Reaper is better for live recording of instruments and vocals and then processing / mixing, and Ableton is better for midi/plugin instruments composing/arranging. Of course both can do either but they have their strengths. For me - live recording/jamming with guitar using amp sims and backing tracks - Reaper anyday.

2023年2月13日 · From a software design standpoint, Ableton is primarily designed for beatmaking and concerts while REAPER is designed for technical audio processing. I think in the long term it's worth learning REAPER because FMOD and Wwise have a lot of features that integrate nicely with it and REAPER lets you script, mod, and/or automate a lot of features.

2019年7月4日 · Reaper's interface is more linear, FL more item/loop based. Reaper works extremely well with virtual instruments and effects, as well as recording audio input. I'm not familiar enough with FL to assess its handling of takes, but Reaper is very versatile and flexible. It comes with some good FX, even tho they look basic.

2015年7月15日 · Ableton is a great program but is much more geared for working with MIDI tracks and producing electronic music. I have put many many hours into Ableton and Reaper. Trust me, if you are mainly tracking live instruments like guitars, then you should really at least try using Reaper for a few projects.

But, Ableton's price includes amazing instruments, a wide variety of good plugins, and a huge library of sounds and samples. Reaper includes some basic (but good) plugins and that's it.

2021年1月17日 · I use both Reaper and Ableton. Ableton mostly for creating sounds, Reaper for mixing. It's extremely customizable. If you don't like its workflow, you can customize it to your own needs. It also uses a lot less CPU compared to Ableton and every other DAW. You're going to miss Ableton's stock instruments however, since Reaper doesn't come with any.

Anyway, Reaper is all of $60 for most people. That's like a tenner more than a Valhalla plugin. To that end, it may be worth using both Reaper and Ableton. You can use Ableton to sequence and then do the mixing and editing in Reaper. Reaper is actually very good for composing and writing with, but the MIDI editor starts out like a blank slate.
