Jul 1, 2015 · I have had 4x5 bales of greenfeed oats that weighed over 1200 pounds. Also have had late coarse first cut hay and the bales weighed 700 pounds. Baler density was the same on both crops. Another thing to consider on weight is when you weigh them If you weigh them right of the field as opposed to 6 months later. The later bales will weigh 10%-15% ...
Leftover Hay Crop | Hay & Forage Forum
Feb 24, 2025 · I agree no hay should intentionally contain mold or dust. But what a horse owner reads on the internet is not always correct concerning hay suitable for a horse to consume. I strive to only sell good quality hay to local horse owners but it may not by many horse owners be classified in their eyes as "horse quality hay".

I do have another field of Bermuda and some horse paddocks that need cleanup. How deep can I disk it without hurting the root system? I'm NW of Houston in sandy loam. Thanks.
Leasing hay field | Hay & Forage Forum - haytalk.com
Jan 30, 2025 · Hay leases are very local. Here in NW Ga, there are so many landowners who will give you access to a field for $0 so that they do not have to maintain it, there is virtually no market for paid ground. As you move to middle and south GA, there is more agriculture, so the market is probably different.

Shipping, Hauling. Delivering Hay | Hay & Forage Forum
Jan 23, 2023 · I haul my own hay, charge $8.80/loaded mile and carry 44 round bales (b-train setup). Load is always 66,000-73,000lbs of hay. it may sound like a lot but expenses are high. I hate loading one or two bales at a time and selling them like that. Wasted so much time waiting on people. Now I only sell by the truckload, and I deliver them.
