I am actually amazed to see such a powerful alternative to cPanel. I will be using it for one more week and I will put a detailed review here.

Really, it boils down to your requirements and also your time. Many hosts still use, and will continue to use cPanel. It is easier to transfer between hosts but doesn't mean it's impossible for a host to move you to/from a different platform. In terms of cPanel itself, shared or VPS, cloud or what have you doesn't matter much, cPanel is cPanel.
