Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is an inflammatory disease. Symptoms usually develop in children ages 5 to 10. Most children with JDM experience muscle weakness and skin rashes that look like eczema. With treatment, many children go for years without any JDM symptoms.

2023年1月16日 · The juvenile form, juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is associated with multisystemic vasculitis and a high frequency of calcinosis, Gottron papules, symmetrical proximal muscle weakness, and a heliotrope rash.

JDM is the most common of the childhood idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, whereas in adults polymyositis is more common than DM in Caucasian populations. Although proximal muscle weakness and rash are characteristic of both age groups, differences also exist between these cardinal features in the disease groups.
