Xylose - Wikipedia
Xylose (cf. Ancient Greek: ξύλον, xylon, "wood") is a sugar first isolated from wood, and named for it. Xylose is classified as a monosaccharide of the aldopentose type, which means that it contains five carbon atoms and includes an aldehyde functional group. It is derived from hemicellulose, one of the main constituents of biomass.

Xylose - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
Xylose is the supreme and most attractive sugar obtained from hemicellulosic fraction of lignocellulosic biomass. Biological processes that use pentose-rich biomass as the sole carbon source will help to minimise raw material prices while also ensuring process sustainability.
Xylose: What is Xylose? - Journal Of Nutrition
Xylose is a fundamental monosaccharide that plays a crucial role in various biological processes. Derived from the Greek word “xylos,” meaning “wood,” xylose is a naturally occurring sugar found in plants, particularly in the fibrous parts such as wood, straw, and corn husks.

Xylose is a five-carbon sugar that contributes to lignocellulose in plants. Xylose is predominantly found in hardwoods and agricultural residues. Estimation of xylose in the urine after oral administration, is useful in diagnosing absorption of carbohydrates and malabsorption of non-pancreatic molecules.

2018年9月20日 · We analyzed the mechanisms of xylose metabolism using genome sequencing data of 492 industrially relevant bacterial species in the mini-review. The analysis revealed the xylose isomerase and Weimberg pathways as the major routes across diverse routes of bacterial xylose metabolism.
Biochemical routes for uptake and conversion of xylose by ...
2020年2月1日 · Conversion of lignocellulose to biofuels and chemicals requires three main steps: destroying the lignocellulose structure by pretreatment, hydrolyzing hemicellulose/cellulose to fermentable monomeric sugars by enzymatic saccharification, and finally converting monomeric sugars to chemicals or biofuels by microbial fermentation.
