JAECO WREX - JAECO Orthopedic
The JAECO WREX / Wilmington Robotic Exoskeleton is a functional upper limb orthosis designed to enhance movement for individuals with neuromuscular disabilities. Its state-of-the-art construction utilizes a light weight exoskeleton that approximates normal human anatomy.
User Evaluation of a Dynamic Arm Orthosis for People With …
The WREX is a passive anti-gravity arm orthosis that allows people with neuromuscular disabilities to move their arms in three dimensions. The paper also describes the design of a novel lightweight 3-D printed WREX used for ambulatory children.
Wilmington robotic exoskeleton: a novel device to maintain arm …
The WREX uses elastic bands to negate the effects of gravity; it allows a person with neuromuscular weakness to move their arm in 3 dimensions. The WREX can be fixed on a brace for ambulatory patients and on the wheelchair for nonambulatory patients.

Design and Testing of a Functional Arm Orthosis in Patients With ...
The WREX, a four-degrees-of-freedom functional orthosis, is energized by rubber bands to eliminate gravity and is attached to the wheelchair. The development and clinical testing of WREX is described in this report. Seventeen patients (14 boys and 3 girls) with muscular disabilities participated in the study. Ages ranged from 4 to 20 years.
A pneumatic robot for re-training arm movement after stroke: …
Abstract: This paper describes the development of a pneumatic robot for functional movement training of the arm and hand after stroke. The device is based on the Wilmington Robotic Exoskeleton (WREX), a passive, mobile arm support developed for children with arm weakness caused by a debilitative condition.
WREX-Wilimington Robotic Exoskeleton
The JAECO WREX is a state-of-the-art, light weight exoskeleton with two links and four degrees of motion that approximates normal human anatomy. It incorporates elastic band elevation assists for both the shoulder and elbow to totally eliminate gravity influence on the extremity.
The WREX Orthosis (Assistive Device) (for Parents)
WREX stands for Wilmington robotic exoskeleton. It's made of lightweight plastic, metal, and rubber bands. A WREX can be attached to a child's wheelchair or to a jacket for kids who can walk. The WREX helps hold up a child's arms with an anti-gravity effect, almost like floating. This lightens the effort of lifting the arms.
