
Builder used wood as lintel over new door opening - is it safe?
2009年6月15日 · Also should they have cemented the wood lintel in place or anything. From what I gather the breezeblock was hacked away, so definately not smooth and very uneven where it meets the wood. The wood was 40mm or 50mm thick. and it is a single door size opening.

2020年8月16日 · Originally it was an open fire when the house was built (around 1850) and then circa 1990s it was changed to a wood burner. I’ve taken away the wood surround to expose the brick work behind and I can’t see a lintel. We do have a metal bar running across the opening but it’s only 10mm think and 50mm wide. It’s flat and not L-shaped.
