The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), formerly the Office International des Epizooties (OIE), is an intergovernmental organisation founded in 1924, coordinating, supporting and promoting animal disease control.

In order to qualify for listing by the WOAH, a disease must meet ALL of the following criteria: It must cause significant production losses, or be likely to have a negative impact on wild populations, or be of concern to public health. The pathogen must have the potential for international spread to zones that are currently free of the pathogen.
