Bill Nimmo qualified at the University of Strathclyde, and was elected ARIBA in 1954. He set up in practice as an Architect on his own account in Wishaw in 1956 after completing National Service with the Royal Engineers in Germany. Shortly afterwards, he invited Jean Welsh to join him as a partner, the practice becoming William Nimmo & Partners.
