The response only diminishes when there are differences in the impurities in the zinc silicate structure. The chromophore manganese causes a fluorescent reaction.

2025年3月5日 · Willemite is rare in finely crystallized specimens and there are only a few localities in the world that produce great display specimens, Tsumeb among them. This small cabinet specimen appears to have two generations of Willemite. The first generation consists of gemmy, thin prisms that make thin clusters with white cores.

A VERY RICH example of the gemmy, botryoidal blue willemite that occurs at its best from Tsumeb! This specimen is almost a solid piece of willemite, with rich, colorful, glassy, translucent bubbles arranged aesthetically throughout.

Willemite is one of the more sought-after species from Tsumeb, due in large part to its enchanting colors and the high luster often associated with its botryoidal habit. Blue willemite botyroids to about 3 mm cover both sides of this specimen. The willemite ranges in color from a light powder blue to a medium, almost robin's-egg blue. Some additional green, unidentified minerals are also present. Formerly in my personal collection. The willemite is brightly fluorescent under LW UV. 6.9 x 4.9 x 3.6 cm.
