Goma is a city in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is the capital and largest city of the North Kivu Province; it is located on the northern shore of Lake Kivu and shares borders with the Bukumu Chiefdom to the north, Rwanda to the east and the Masisi Territory to the west.

2025年2月1日 · Goma is a tourist city that is the capital of Northern province of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the extreme east on the border with Rwanda. In 2002 Goma was destroyed by lava from the Nyiragongo volcano which buried most of the town’s streets, particularly the town centre. Since then, Goma has been a city under constant construction.

A town in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Goma is the capital of the North Kivu region. It is situated on the shores of Lake Kivu at the Rwandan border and is flanked by two active volcanoes, Nyiragongo, 11,388 feet (3,471 meters) high, and Nyamuragira, 10,333 feet (3,149 meters) high.

It is situated near the Rwandan city of Gisenyi on the northern side of Lake Kivu. The Albertine Rift, the western arm of the East African Rift system, contains the lake and the two cities. Goma is only about 13-18 kilometres south of the active Mount Nyiragongo Volcano.
