2009年4月18日 · Thus you can use a smaller internally-regulated generator to start a well pump than a larger externally regulated generator. I have seen this with my own eyes. A good Honda EG-3500 watt generator will start a 1-HP jet pump while a 5KW Lowe's special often cannot do the same thing. The wiring also makes a difference.

2010年7月31日 · Regardless, it isn't close to correct. Until you have some technology to reduce the initial startup draw, you would want more than 240*42=10,800 as an absolute minimum. I wouldn't attempt it with a 10,000W rated generator; that's stressing the generator the redline every time the pump starts, and that assumes no other loads or power losses.

2007年6月3日 · I agree, at least a 5KW generator. I assume the well pump is 220V but even a 110V at 200' deep will draw some amperage. The furnace should be no problem. I ran my whole house on a 5KW (6250 surge) generator including a 220V well pump, fridge, freezer, lights etc. The lights dim when the pump comes on but it runs it.

Generator side: Things that can vary from one-brand to another: 1) There's a flywheel effect of the genny's rotor and motor that will help overcome starting surge.

2007年12月8日 · The well here is 85 feet deep with a 220V 3/4 hp pump. I bought a Champion 3500/4000 watt generator in 2008. It will run my well pump. I think they quit making this generator, because 3500/4000 is too small for 220V in most cases. My neighbor and brother bought 3500/4000 right after, but they didn't have 220V anymore.

2019年6月24日 · Hey Folks, So this morning they finished up installing the well pump, installers said to get a generator during the home build (or until the temp pole is brought in) when we need water. I asked what kind/type/ size and they just said at least a 4,000. They also left some wire for me to hook-up...

2020年8月29日 · IF I don't go with the option presented by 'tinhack' I was thinking of removing the radiator, undoing the two nut/bolts at the coupler on the engine drive plate and then 'snaking' the belt in that small area then reassembling. A lot of work at best. I had read that to remove the pump I could remove the cotter pin #9 then slide the shaft back.

2011年2月10日 · I have 2 submersible pumps in a pond in a couple feet into the water. When I ran them to pump water into tanks for watering our garden I would just plug them into the 110 port on the generator and switch on the 17 amp circuit breaker and they take right off. It is a 3200 watt John Deere generator maybe 30-40 years old. Valves were open at start-up.
