I devised the exercises in WALC 10 for use primarily with individuals who have suffered from a head injury, a non-dominant hemispheric stroke (usually a right CVA), and other neurological defi cits resulting from various causes (e.g., Lyme’s Disease, anoxia, Moya Moya Disease).

The exercises in WALC 1 (Workbook of Activities for Language and Cognition) emerged as I was working with adolescent and adult clients who exhibited difficulties with auditory and visual comprehension and/or oral and written expression.
To address this, the activities in WALC 11: Language for Home Activities were developed to provide stimulus items for remediation of language and cognitive-linguistic impairments that are relevant to a person’s daily activities around the home.
The Workbook for Language Activities and Cognition 5 (WALC 5) was developed to increase cognitive skills for higher-level language processes in clients who have had neurological incidents.
WALC 8: Word Finding was written to stimulate the processes and strategies needed for reestablishing word-fi nding abilities in clients who are neurologically impaired. The tasks in this book, developed while working with a wide variety of clients, have evolved and have been perfected over the years.
