The Wakhi people (Wakhi: ښیک مردمِش, Shughni: Waxiēn, Persian: مردمان وخی; Russian: Ваханцы; Chinese: 瓦汗 or 瓦罕), also locally referred to as the Wokhik (وخیک), [3] are an Iranian ethnic group native to Central and South Asia.

Wakhi (ښیکوار زیک, Х̆икв̆ор зик, IPA: [xikwɔr zik]) is an Indo-European language in the Eastern Iranian branch of the language family spoken today in Wakhan District, Northern Afghanistan, and neighboring areas of Tajikistan, Pakistan and China.

Wakhi is a member of the Southern Pamir group of Iranian languages. It is spoken in parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and China by about 31,000 people.
