WWV is a shortwave ("high frequency" or HF) radio station, located near Fort Collins, Colorado. It has broadcast a continuous time signal since 1945, and implements United States government frequency standards, with transmitters operating on 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 MHz. [1] .

2015年5月28日 · Standard Frequencies. Both WWV and WWVH broadcast standard frequency audio tones that alternate during most minutes of the hour. Most minutes feature a 500 or 600 Hz audio tone. However, a 440 Hz tone is broadcast once per hour, and some minutes do not include any audio tones at all.

2024年9月16日 · WWVH broadcasts on 2.5, 5, 10 and 15 MHz from Kauai, Hawaii. Both stations broadcast a timing signal 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, to listeners all over the world. All broadcast frequencies used by WWV and WWVH are in the high frequency (HF) radio spectrum which extends from 3 to 30 MHz.

This site attempts to simulate the audio portion of stations WWV and WWVH. It should sound much like what you’d hear if you tuned in a shortwave radio to one of these stations. Each station has its own style of tones and voice time announcements. Station identification is every half hour.

Detailed descriptions are given of six technical services broadcast by National Bureau of Standards radio stations WWV and WWVH. The services include 1, standard radio. frequencies; 2, standard audio frequencies; 3, standard time intervals; 4, standard musical pitch; 5, time signals; and 6, radio propagation forecasts.

All carrier and modulation frequencies at WWV and WWVH are derived from cesium controlled oscillators. These frequencies, in conformity with the UTC scale, are intentionally offset from the defined frequency by a small but precisely known amount to reduce depar- ture between the time signals as broadcast and astro- nomical time, UT2.

Standard Frequencies. WWV and WWVH transmit 44 seconds of audio tone in most minutes. It begins after the 1-second minute mark and continues until the beginning of the WWVH time announcement 45 seconds after the minute. Even minutes (except for minute 2) transmit 500 Hz, while 600 Hz is heard during odd minutes.

Both WWV and WWVH broadcast on frequencies in AM mode at 2.5 MHz, 5.0 MHz, 10.0 MHz, and 15.0 MHz. WWV additionally broadcasts on 20.0 MHz. Each frequency is broadcast from a separate transmitter. WWV uses a male voice and WWVH uses a female voice. Often in the nighttime hours, it is possible to hear both stations simultaneously.
