The Wisconsin Regional Training Partnership (WRTP) was created in the 1990s to renew Milwaukee’s traditional industrial base after the recovery of manufacturing, retirement of an aging workforce, and diversification of the regional economy created a growing skills shortage.

By working directly with construction employers, labor leaders, and industry associations, WRTP | BIG STEP offers a variety of services to help develop a more diverse, qualified, and dependable workforce—now and into the future.

WRTP | BIG STEP provides programs and career services with special emphasis on apprenticeship readiness training and tutoring to prepare participants for the necessary apprenticeship qualifying tests they’ll face in the skilled trades.
