2010年10月6日 · WAKR-TV was retained by the Berk family and renamed WAKC/23, and was eventually sold off to ValueVision in 1994. Today it is Cleveland-targeted ION O&O WVPX/23, with its’ master control at WKYC/3’s digital broadcast center. Of course, WAKR went through much turnover in the late 1980s and early 1990s upon the dismantling of Group One.

This group was created by Myself in order to attract residents of Akron that watched and listen and worked at WAKR-AM/FM and WAKR/WAKC-TV 23 to share their favorite memories and historical anecdotes....

WAKR (1590 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to serve Akron, Ohio, and known as "Soft Hits 93.5 FM". Locally owned and operated by Rubber City Radio Group, Inc., the station primarily services the Akron metropolitan area, including both Summit County and Portage County.

In 1967, WAKR-TV moved from Channel 49 to Channel 23.
