The VT05 is the first free-standing CRT computer terminal from Digital Equipment Corporation introduced in 1970. Famous for its futuristic styling, the VT05 presents the user with an upper-case-only ASCII character display of 72 columns by 20 rows. [3]

The VT05 is a flexible, high-performance alphanumeric display terminal with a video cathode ray tube display and communications equipment. It is capable of transmitting data over standard phone lines and data sets in half or full duplex modes at rates up to 300 Baud.

This is a VT05 terminal emulator for Windows, written in C#. The aim of this project is to accurately reproduce the experience of using a real Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) VT05 terminal, including the look of the screen. The VT05 was an early "glass teletype" terminal, and had a display size of 72 columns x 20 rows.

2023年9月20日 · The DEC VT05 DECscope terminal was introduced in November, 1970 at the Fall Joint Computer Conference. It was DEC's first raster video terminal. The VT05A supported baud rates up to 300 baud, the VT05B supported baud rates up to 2400 baud. The VT05 could transmit both lower and upper case, but could only display upper case.

Before operating the VT05, the user should be thoroughly familiar with the information provided in this manual as well as the various controls of the VT05. In addition, the user should always be aware that the VT05 is a television-like device with a cathode ray tube. Use care and good judgment in handling the equipment.

The VT05 Alphanumeric Display Terminal, consisting of a CRT terminal and self-contained keyboard, can be used as a peripheral I/O device with a computer or as a stand-alone closed-circuit television monitor (see Figure 1-1).

The VT05 Alphanumeric Display Terminal (technically, the VT05B, but documentation usually referred to it as the 'VT05') was one of DEC's first video terminals. It supported all the same format control characters as a Teletype, so it was a 'drop in' replacement. Physically, it was 12"Hx19"Wx30"D, and weighed 55lbs.
