2020年4月9日 · I’d probably chose VEX if I were you. FRC robots are bigger, much more expensive, and much harder to build. It’s not for you unless you know it’s what you want to do. FRC is closer to actual real-life robotics, but only by a little bit. VEX robots are smaller, cheaper, and easier to build. It is much easier to be a newbie and be competitive.

2025年2月2日 · FRC does not have an equivalent in VEX. The costs are much higher ($6K registration fee and first event, $3K per event after that, Worlds is $6K. Parts are expensive but there is a huge array of what you can use.

In VEX and FTC, we have a lot of the electronics and programming done for us. FRC students have to do it all from scratch, so they can learn a lot more. What should you do?

2010年8月26日 · VEX is essentially banished during club time (out-of-school weekend meetings hosted by VEX team members are okay, as long as they do the FRC stuff too). Towards the last week of FRC build (while Graphics and driving practice are in session), non-drivers for FRC on the VEX team can return to VEX in preparation for Rick’s late February competition.

2010年8月24日 · FRC was just not an option in the immediate area, the local high schools did not allow homeschoolers. Three years ago a regional school (30 miles away) opened up their team to homeschoolers. Soooooooooooo, being as how we love robotics, my older daughter has been on both teams the two years.

2018年4月11日 · Vex is significantly cheaper, even more so since you already have vex hardware. While vex doesn’t have the capabilities of control systems/motors used in ftc, that downfall will be significantly reduced with v5. Vex games are also far superior to ftc games historically. The main advantage to ftc is the ability to be more creative with designs.

2025年1月22日 · That’s actually a really good guess that I hadn’t thought of. It will be a bit harder on my team though as frc worlds would end up being so far from vex worlds we’d end up having to spend a lot more money. But as far as guessing I wouldn’t be surprised if you were right.

2020年11月11日 · A few years ago teams took on building swerve drives in the “off season” (unlike VEX season that runs 364 days, the FRC season runs from the first Saturday in January to the end of May, so there is about a 6 month break). These drives have become more compact, reliable and the programming has improved to where they are really drive-able.
