Ustica (Italian pronunciation: [ˈustika]; [3] Sicilian: Ùstica) is a small Italian island in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is about 5 kilometres (3 mi) across and is situated 52 kilometres (32 mi) north of Capo Gallo, Sicily. Roughly 1,300 people live in the comune (municipality) of the same name.

Ustica is the site of Italy’s first Marine Protected Area and offers truly unique wonders of Mediterranean marine flora and fauna. Ustica is thus a marine and archaeological paradise just waiting to be explored, especially by divers and lovers of the sea.

Great experience for a day arond Palermo. I took the ferry at 9:30, arriving in Ustica at 12:30. I had enough time (6 hours) to explore the island. The bus service (orange buses that follow the circular island road) are very reliable and cheap. There are so many hidden beaches that can only be reached by hiking or by boat.
