The Venellī or Unellī (Gaulish: * Uenellī/Wenellī) were a Gallic tribe dwelling on the Cotentin peninsula, in the northwest of modern Normandy, during the Iron Age and the Roman period.

Julius Caesar referred to the tribe as the Unelli. The more commonly-used Venelli tribal name appears to be constructed of 'ven' (which was pronounced 'wen') plus a diminutive suffix, '-ellus', which was altered to '-elli' to make a plural.

The Unelli were a Gallic tribe which inhabited the Cotentin Peninsula of northern France. In 57 BC, during the Gallic Wars, the Roman general Publius Licinius Crassus submitted the Unelli, and Quintus Titurius Sabinus was dispatched to keep the Unelli and their neighbors quiet.

Gauls, particularly the Unelli tribe, crossed to Jersey and made the Iberians their slaves. This was a Celtic society with Druid priests. (2) Gaul was conquered by Julius Caesar but there was no Roman occupation of the Channel Islands.

Unelli. The Unelli or Veneli (_gr. Οὐένελοι) were one of the Armoric or maritime states of Gallia. ("B. G." ii. 34, iii. 11.) Caesar mentions them with the Veneti, Osismi, Curiosolitae, and other maritime states.
