Ugadi or Yugadi (Telugu : ఉగాది, Kannada :ಯುಗಾದಿ) also known as Samvatsarādi (meaning "beginning of the year"), is New Year's Day according to the Hindu calendar and is celebrated by the Telugus and Kannadigas in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and others, and Mauritius.
