The BTR-80 (Russian: бронетранспортёр, romanized: bronetransportyor, lit. 'armoured carrier') is an 8×8 wheeled amphibious armoured personnel carrier (APC) designed in the Soviet Union .

BTR (Russian: БТР), from Bronetransportyor/Bronetransporter (Russian: бронетранспортёр /Ukrainian: бронетранспортер; literally "armoured transporter"), is any of a series of Soviet or post-Soviet military armoured personnel carriers (APCs).

Since 1986, the BTR-80 was produced right up to the dislocation of the Soviet empire. It was resumed after 1990 with the gradual introduction of the BTR-80M in 1993, the BTR-80A in 1994 and ultimately the BTR-82 in 2009.

2021年4月17日 · The BTR-50 was the first mass-produced tracked and amphibious Soviet-built armored personnel carrier (APC). It was developed from the desperate need of a more mobile APC, capable of keeping up with tanks in rough terrain and be able to operate in the difficult terrain of eastern and central Europe.

This serial airborne APC was completed in 1974, approved for production entering service the same year a "BTR-D". Since then, it was largely produced in the hundreds and deployed within all Soviet paratroopers units.

The BTR-60/70/ 80 /90 family is now an unmistakable landmark in the history of APCs, being one of the first height-wheeled amphibious vehicle developed in the east, and which proven rugged and adaptable to countless uses.
