Install the USB-A connector and solder as usual, except for the repaired pad. Flux that one and repeat like the broken trace - the less time it stays hot, the better. Aim for a functional joint, not a pretty one.

They break due to fatigue, and the fatigue is due to the shroud has excessive flexibility, due to very short solder footprint. A connector with a bigger through-hole footprint (solder tabs on all four corners) is way better.

2024年2月27日 · My issue is with the USB-C connector. The IC requires CC1, CC2, D+ and D- in order to negotiate the current draw. I am struggling to find a USB-C connector with these signals available. The PCBs will be soldered by hand so the fewer pins on the connector the better (Not sure I have a steady enough hand to solder a 24-pin connector).
