In 1954, the teams were redesignated: UDTs 1, 3, and 5 became UDTs 11, 12 and 13; and UDTs 2 and 4 became UDTs 21 and 22. Shortly thereafter, UDT 13 was decommissioned, because of personnel shortage, and split between UDT 11 and UDT 12. UDT 22 was decommissioned in June 1956 for the same reason with the personnel being assigned to UDT 21.
