Women in Tunisia enjoy certain freedoms and rights that are denied to women in neighboring countries, although the social norms have shifted since 2011. As of 2008, the U.S. Population Reference Bureau reported that Tunisia's population of women between the ages of 15 and 49 was 3,000,000. [3] .

Tunisia is considered to have one of the most progressive legal frameworks on women’s rights in the Middle East and North African region. While the 2022 Constitution commits the State to protect women’s rights and guarantees that the State will take measures to eliminate violence against women, actual implementation is another matter, experts say.
