I have a 1994 trooper and recently it has been stalling on me without any warning. After it stalls and I re-try to start it, the RPM needles flutters and then the car dies out. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, I can start the car and then it runs normal again. I took it to a mechanic and could nnot find the problem as it only occurs randomly.

Looking back, I was glad I was driving a Trooper. I may have avoided the Caddy in a sportier car, but I'm not sure. The Trooper handled well, and I was not hesitant to swerve while braking at about 50mph. The guy in the Caddy was okay, but his car was mangled-- looked like a textbook Milachi crunch from Happy Days.

I have a similar problem. 2002 Trooper, 105k miles, just had trans rebuilt, now at 40mph or faster, when coasting (foot off gas pedal) the 4WD kicks in full 4WD (meaning all four wheel lights on dash are lit in full). It does not matter if TOD auto is on or off. Problem exists either way. I can hear and feel the 4WD kick in.

HI- My trooper has a hard time staying running when it is cold. Initially to get the car started, I have to hold the key in the start position and give it gas. If I can get the engine to rev up to 5k rpms then the car will idle and stay running like nothing is wrong. Otherwise the engine starts and runs for a second and then dies.

My 2002 Trooper has an inoperable ABS system (Light is on) unless the temperature of the car is < 40F. Light is off and it works great, but eventually the car warms and the light comes on the system goes back to not working. The code is 43. I've pulled the connector off the ECBM and checked pins but so far no answer.

Alldata only shows a PCM that controls engine and trans for any 2001 trooper, 2WD-4WD, S-LS- or LTD with a 3.5L in the engine compartment by the battery. If the computer is putting the trans into failsafe mode then you must retrieve the fault codes that are causing the problem.

2006年6月1日 · The trooper has a feature where the alternator kicks out under a load or during acceleration. This makes it difficult/impossible for the parts places to check the alternator. Their meters require you to rev the engine whick causes the alternator to kick out and the meter says it has a problem, but I don't think it does as the guage shows it ...
