Toledot, Toldot, Toldos, or Toldoth (תּוֹלְדֹת ‎— Hebrew for "generations" or "descendants," the second word and the first distinctive word in the parashah) is the sixth weekly Torah portion (פָּרָשָׁה ‎, parashah) in the annual Jewish cycle of Torah reading.

toledoth comes after what Adam and his descendants went on to do, and then is followed by the list of his descendants down to Noah (a PTG), with almost no exploits mentioned. For another, Jacob’s toledoth follows the main account of his own doings and precedes those of his progeny. Those accounts include more about him, but only as details.

The Toledoth in the Book of Genesis Moses spent most of his first 40 years growing up in the courts of Pharaoh, the next 40 years he lived in exile in Midian tending the flocks of Jethro. While in the courts of Pharaoh, Moses had access to the Toledoth records brought to Egypt when Jacob and his family moved to the Egypt of the days of Joseph.
