Rather, its the actual temperature controller built into the heater that is more likely to fail, which is why you can get new probes for really cheap ($9) to replace them on the heater controller that BRS or others sell.

The absolute best heater is the Process Technologies Titanium Immersion Heater. It's a Big Shtupping Heating Element. The start off at 110v 1500w and go up to 480v 3 Phase and 16,500 watts - maybe even bigger.

2014年12月9日 · Interesting points made. I always considered heater reliability and accuracy as my main/only concerns. Variances in on/off cycles are certainly worth considering as well. Thanks for pointing that out! The argument of what device to use to switch the heater on and off from the durability standpoint is somewhat debatable.

My current BRS titanium (well bought 2 600w and one already cooked) might still be good but the BRS controller (think was rebranded Inkbird) almost cooked my tank the other day when apparently the outlet locked on.

2020年2月6日 · I believe instruction says vertical so that the heater temp sensor that's located at top of unit will read correct water temp. If placed horizontal and bottom of tank/sump, it may read lower water temp than actual. U can still place it horizontally at bottom, but I'd monitor water temp using another source and adjust heater setting accordingly.
