Founded in 1881, Tioga is situated in northern Texas on the joint track of th e T. and P. and M.K.T. railroads, 31 miles southwest of Sherman and 6 miles north of Pilot Point. In 1882, the first building constructed was a grocery store and the first school house was a one-room frame building.
