One of two routes starting from Pen y Pass, the Pyg Track is a rocky and difficult path with several steep climbs. While the Pyg track is one of the shortest routes up Yr Wyddfa, it is also one of the most rugged and challenging routes to the summit.

Not as busy as the Llanberis Path, the Pyg Track is still one of the Snowdon ‘super-highways’, and one of the most popular routes on Snowdon.

The Pyg Track (Llwybr Pyg) is the shortest route to the summit, and because it starts at a height of 359 m (1,188 ft) the total ascent is just 723 m (2,372 feet). ‘Pyg’ (or ‘PYG’) is pronounced ‘pig’.

2023年11月21日 · The Pyg Track is the shortest and one of the easiest routes up Snowdon, making it perfect for those attempting the summit for the first time. It starts at the 359-metre-high Pen-y-Pass car park, which sits at the top of the Llanberis Road (A4086).

The Pyg Track is around 6.7 miles (10.8km) there and back. All Snowdon paths take roughly the same time with a faster walker being able to get up and down in around four hours but for most people, allow six or slightly longer if you’re walking with young children or in poor weather.

Despite this, the Pyg Track is not the easiest path up as it can be steep and rocky in places but the paths are generally very good all the way and reasonably straightforward to follow.

Though it can be a long slog, the Pyg track is the simplest way of walking Snowdon and it takes you through the heart of Snowdonia National Park. And it’s not just its ease. Of the easier Snowdon routes, the Pyg Track offers absolutely awesome views of the towering mountains: Crib Goch and Y Lliwedd either side of the track.

The Pyg Track and Miner's Track pass the stunning lakes of Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn which are situated in an amphitheatre of mountains, ridges and rock which make up the Snowdon Horseshoe.
