Our resort provides miles of golden beaches, forests, mangroves, and rocky cliffs to explore, providing homes to a myriad of wildlife including dolphins, turtles, dugongs, and over one hundred bird species.

Sweers Island has a long and fascinating history. The first visitors to these shores were most likely the Kaiadilt Aboriginal People who travelled from mainland Australia to live on nearby Bentinck Island. Stone Fishtraps date back to early Aboriginal occupation.

Once there, you can charter an aircraft to fly you direct to Sweers Island, or you can drive, or fly to the Gulf with regional operator REX and do the final hop across to the island with local charter operator, Savannah Aviation.

Here at Sweers we offer you the best value for money, with comfortable facilities at an affordable price! The daily tariff includes your accommodation, all meals, including a 3 course dinner. A self-drive 4.8m aluminium boat, fuel and handline tackle.

Sweers Island is easily accessible from mainland Australia. You can travel by commercial airline to nearby towns or charter direct. Private pilots can land on the island's 1100m all-weather gravel airstrip.

Whether fishing for the first time or a seasoned angler the surrounding waters on Sweers cater for everyone. Sweers is surrounded by pristine Gulf waters and rocky reef. Some of these reefs become partially exposed at low tide.

Sweers Island Resort is a secluded oasis, offering a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, where guests can enjoy an ice-cold beer or sparkling wine whilst watching the stunning sunsets in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Sweers Island is a remote location, so you can relax and avoid the clutter of social media for a while! There is a Telstra Mobile Cell at Burketown on the mainland for which we have a booster in the bar area.
