Tong Zhonggui (Chinese: 童忠贵; pinyin: Tóng Zhōngguì; born January 23, 1963), known by the pen name of Su Tong (苏童; 蘇童; Sū Tóng) is a Chinese writer. He was born in Suzhou and lives in Nanjing .

Su Tong is a prolific and unconventional writer whose work explores the darker side of human nature. Having grown up in the Cultural Revolution, Su Tong’s novels and short stories depict everyday life in 20th century China with a dark twist.

Vice president of the Jiangsu Writers Association, Su Tong started to publish novels in 1983 and is known for his controversial writing style. He has written seven full-length novels and over 200 short stories, some of which have been translated into English, German, Italian and French.

Born in 1963 in Suzhou and now living in Nanjing with his family, Su Tong is a bestselling author who attained international recognition in 1993 when Zhang Yimou's film of his novella Raise the Red Lantern was nominated for an Academy Award.
